Matt and I spent Christmas at my parents house in Richfield this year. Although we are both really bad at suprising each other or keeping secrets, so we had a few of our presents early. Matt got me a frame that I've been drooling over at ikea for quite some time. I knew exactly what it was as soon as I got home and saw it wrapped so matt told me I could go ahead and open it. Here it is!
I wanted to get Matt a new phone for Christmas but I also wanted it to be one that he would like so I made him pick it out and then tortured him with it for days not letting him touch or even look at the box. His phone gave up the ghost sometime before Christmas and with the bad weather we were having I didnt want him without a way to contact me. So of course, he got it early too.
Christmas was filled with new tradition for Matt as he got to participate in my family's "holy supper". Every Christmas eve we eat by candle light, things that Christ would have eaten back in his day. Although we do cheat a bit by eating fish sticks ang fig newtons instead of figs. But its the thought that counts, right?
After the dinner we read the Christmas story and sing the hymns. We played the chimes this year and that was a first for Matt. It was fun to watch him hit his chime with such dignity and purpose!
Christmas came and we had a great time opening presents with my family. We got a game, several cook books, and intertubes to go tubing with! (among several other things) It was a great day. Matt made me a recipie card box and had our mom's write down several favorite recipes. He also gave me a few cook books and magazine subscription. I got him a construction worker's lunch box and the office board game. We had a great day!
I have pictures of our first Christmas tree....but they won't load so perhaps some other time!
